Emarat Maritime is the Ship operating arm of Sharaf Group, one of the fastest growing business houses in the UAE with its head quarters in Dubai. The Group has diversified intertests and has its own offices in all GCC countries, Iran, India, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Mozambique, Kenya, Tanzania, Djibouti and various Central African states.

The group ventured into Ship Owning in 1990, focusing promarily on the agriproducts trade out of the Indian Sub continent, Over a period of time, eight multi-purpose vessels of between 8,500 Dwt and 22,000 Dwt were acquired to cater to this trade, With a decline in the agri-products movement in the late 1990's the focus shifted to the dry bulk markets and in 2001, the first Handymax bulk carrier was acquired. There-after seven more bulk carriers were purchased. The current fleet list as it exists on 01 December 2005 is shown overleaf.
